OCS Bats FAQs

Are OCS bats made from English willow?

Yes. The OCS Silver, Gold and Platinum are all handcrafted from English willow, the same wood used by professional and league cricketers.

Which OCS bat is best for beginners?

The OCS Silver. It gives you genuine English willow performance at the lowest price in the range, making it the ideal first English willow bat.

What is the difference between OCS Silver, Gold and Platinum?

All three are lightweight English willow bats with a large sweet spot. As you move up from Silver to Gold to Platinum, you get a higher willow grade and a more premium finish, aimed at more experienced players.

Can I use an OCS bat for tape ball cricket?

OCS bats are built for hard (leather) ball cricket. For tape ball, choose a lighter bat from our TM tape ball bats or JD bats collections.

Do OCS bats need knocking-in?

Yes. Like all English willow bats, an OCS bat should be knocked-in with a bat mallet before match use. This protects the face and improves performance. See our knocking-in guide.

What size OCS bat should I buy?

Most adult players use a Short Handle (SH) bat. Check the size options on each product page, and use our cricket bat size guide if you are unsure.
